The Devil has Texas

There are people born in the 1890’s who are still alive.

I find the early 20th century fascinating, and its amazing to know that there are still people alive who lived through it. I was not aware however that there are still people alive who were born in the 1890’s, I thought at the earliest, there might be some from the early 1900’s.

There is a woman alive who was born in 1896, amazing! There are a man and a woman alive who were born in 1897, and 7 women born in 1898 who are still alive. There are like 20 women alive born in 1899.

The list goes up to 1901, with a grand total of 72 people still alive born between 1896-1901, making them 110 years of age or older, thus classifying them as ‘supercentenarians’.

I dont know what kind of condition these people are in, whether they’ve be struck by ailments often found in old people, or whether they’re mostly normal except they do things a little slower, but I think we should be talking to these people extensively and documenting the things they remember from the early 1900’s.

I find it kind of lame that we only ever document things of ‘historical significance’, because peoples lives can be just as interesting, an insight into what life was like back then and so on, instead of who bombed who and where.

I myself want to document these things, for my own interests, and for the interests of others. First of all though, I want to find out as much as I can about my Great Grandfather.
