Film of the Day #1: As my first film of the day, I saw ‘We Need to Talk About Kevin’, a strange film about a woman who’s son went on a killing spree at his high school. The film is intercut with scenes from the past, and scenes from the present, simultaneously showing how the boy grew up to be the way he is, and his mother dealing with the aftermath of the massacre.
I think the film is supposed to be somewhat of a black comedy, because I was certainly laughing at several points in the film, so if it isn’t, then I guess I’m just disturbed.
I was impressed with Ezra Miller, I’ve never seen him in a film before, but I’ve heard him mentioned positively quite a few times, so I’m definitely going to check out the rest of his work. Tilda Swinton does a great job of playing a distant and emotionally stressed personality, and well, John C Reily is just John C Reily.
If you haven’t seen this film, I recommend it, it would probably be in my Top 10 for 2011, so see it!
P.S. Review of ‘Dancer in the Dark’ to come later.
